Dietitian

The qualified health care provider for all activities aimed at correctly applying nutrition and dietary principles in relation to an individual’s and a group’s needs is a dietitian. Official diagnoses, drug prescriptions, or specialist visits are not permitted; however, the patient may be advised to seek further testing while always being under the treating physician’s supervision.

The only figure that emerges and develops exclusively to further our understanding of human nutrition, dietetics, and dietotherapy is that of the dietitian. The Dietist is a sanitarian rather than a physician. It is a professional’s job to create the dietary plans and diets that doctors prescribe in the context of nutrition clinics.
